2. Portuguese travellers Domingo Paes and Fernao Nuniz also visited the Vijayanagara Empire during his reign.
3. Krishna Deva Raya was the son of Tuluva Narasa Nayaka, an army commander under Saluva Narasimha Deva Raya, who later took control of the empire to prevent its disintegration and became the founder of the Tuluva Dynasty, the third Hindu Dynasty to rule Vijayanagara.
4. He built a beautiful suburb near Vijayanagara called Nagalapura.
Krishna Deva Raya's Conquests
1. His main enemies were the Bahamani Sultans (who, though divided into five small kingdoms, remained a constant threat), the Gajapatis of Odisha, who had been involved in constant conflict since the rule of Saluva Narasimha Deva Raya and the Portuguese, a rising maritime power which controlled much of the sea trade. The feudal chiefs of Ummatur, Reddyraju of Kondavidu raju and Velamas of Bhuvanagiri intermittently rebelled against Vijayanagar rule.
2. In 1509 Krishnadevaraya's armies clashed with the Sultan of Bijapur at Diwani and the Sultan Mahmud was severely injured and defeated. Yusuf Adil Khan was killed and raju was annexed.
3. Taking advantage of the victory and the disunity of the Bahamani Sultans, the Raya invaded Bidar, Gulbarga and Bijapur.
4. The Sultan of Golconda Sultan Quli Qutb Shah was defeated by Timmarusu who was the prime minister of Sri Krishnadevaraya.
5. He subdued local rulers of and Velamas of Bhuvanagiri who were the feudatory of Gajapati kings of Odisha, and seized lands up to the Krishna river. Ganga Raja, the Ummatur chief, fought Krishna Deva Raya on the banks of the Kaveri and was defeated
6. Krishna Deva Raya's success at Ummatur provided the necessary impetus to carry his campaign into the Telangana region which was in control of Gajapati Prathapa Rudra Dev. The Vijayanagar army laid siege to the Udayagiri fort in 1512. The campaign lasted for a year before the Gajapati army disintegrated due to starvation. The Vijayanagar army then accosted the Gajapati army at Kondapalli area and laid another siege. Krishnadevaraya then planned for an invasion of mainland Kalinga-Utkal but the Gajapati Emperor. Prataprudra was driven to Cuttack, the capital of the Gajapati empire and eventually surrendered to Vijaynagar, giving his daughter Princess Jaganmohini Devi in marriage to Sri Krishna Deva Raya.
7. He defeated Golconda and captured its commander Madurul-Mulk, crushed Bijapur and its Sultan Ismail Adil Shah and restored Bahmani sultanate to Muhammad Shah.

gud evenging sir. some of the kapu people are saying that sri krishna devarya belongs to their caste. how it is possible and their caste people also built so many marriage function halls on that name.
what is the excate truth .Is devaraya belongs to yadava or kapu caste
Krishnadevraya descended from Harihara I who founded the Vijaynagara Empire. Its clearly stated in the inscriptions that Harihara I claimed descent from King Yadu and Lord Krishna. So that makes them Yadavas.
harihara raya belongs to kuruba caste. in this he belongs to yadava. that means both caste are same
Correct. Kurubas claim descent from Lord Krishna who was a Yadav, so in conclusion they are Yadava themselves coz they too have descended from King Yadu.
One thing to understand here is that Yadav is a Family, its not a caste or a religion. So if any caste that has its ancestory traced to Lord Krishna are inherently Yadav.
Jai Sri Krishna.
Srikrishnadevaraya was a great poet.In Amuktamalyada which was written by him,he himself states that he belongs
to Yadav caste. All the 8 poets (called Ashtadiggajas) who adorned his kingdom, noted among them was
Tenaliramakrishna, have written that krishnadevaraya belongs to Yadav caste, what more evidence does one
require.
