Introduction

1. Shri J B S Yadava was a Lieutenant General in Indian Army.

2. He is a Veer Chakra Recipient.

3. Lt. General (Retd.) J.B.S. Yadav was born in 1945 in village Achina in Bhiwani district.

4. He got the Commission in the Army in 1964 and retired as Deputy Chief of the Army in 2005 after distinguished service of 40 years.



Battle of Hilli

1. The Battle of Hilli or the Battle of Bogra was a major battle fought in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 and Bangladesh Liberation War.

2. It is generally regarded as the most pitched battle that took place in East Pakistan, now Bangladesh.

3. The battle of Hilli took place between 23 November 1971 and 11 December 1971, although the final surrender took place on 18 December 1971.

4. Major J B S Yadava ( later Lt. General ) was a company commanders of 5/11 Gorkha Rifles of the Indian Army, he was awarded Vir Chakra for his bravery in this battle.
